In order to correctly diagnose the existing structures, we establish changes in geometrical characteristics of bearing elements and in physical and mechanical properties of building materials.
The strength of reinforced concrete elements is being determined by using a non-destructive method for concrete testing by sclerometer and scanning a reinforcement using a profometer. The degree of reinforcement corrosion could also be measured. If laboratory tests of the existing material are required, samples (cores) are being taken from the structure.
At the steel structures could be measured the thickness of coating layers and tension in bolted joints.
